Of course, our personal lives are also at threat when it comes to cyber security. How many people use the same password across a number of websites or leave personal information on display on social media sites?
Since a lot of our personal and sensitive data is now online – whether that be our banking information, personal details or photos from our latest holiday – educating ourselves on cyber safety should be a priority for individuals and businesses alike.
There are some simple steps that everyone can take to ensure that personal and financial information remains secure in our growing cyber world:
Set strong passwords and avoid using the same run-of-the-mill password for a number of sites.
Ensure that your personal devices have internet security software installed and don’t ignore vital regular updates that your system needs.
Be careful with the kind of information you make available on social media sites. Use your privacy settings and review what information you really need to have publically available.
Be aware of spam and junk emails announcing that you have won money and prizes, or emails that ask you to enter personal details, such as banking information or passwords.
Your bank will never ask you to provide them with details over an email and if you receive an email asking you to input passwords for websites, open a new window and go to the site in question to see if there actually is a reason for the email you just received.
At Capita TI, we realise how important it is for businesses to have secure processes in place to remain competitive, which is why we have invested in advanced technology to make our translation and localisation services as secure as possible:
Our brand new Translation Management System – MultiTRANS Prism (MTP) – controls the supply chain by prohibiting the ability to transfer files in and out of the system. Our linguists are also prohibited from copying any content out of the system for use on their own local machines.
We have created a number of scalable, state-of-the-art Secure Machine Translation solutions that can either be hosted by Capita TI in our secure IL3 datacentre, or deployed behind your corporate firewall.
We issue every member of staff with secure Capita built laptops with VPN network connections. With these machines, copying content to a USB drive or access to unsecure internet sites are both restricted.
