Nadia joins our Public Sector team as an Account Manager, helping our Public Sector customers with their interpreting and translation requests. In this blog, Nadia talks about her experience in marketing and events, and her drive for a new challenge.
Why did you join Capita?
I’d reached a point in my life where I felt ready for a new challenge. My brother-in-law had worked at Capita TI for several years so told me a bit about the company which really piqued my interest, on the back of this I decided to send my CV, on the off chance there would be a role I was suited for….a few months later and here I am as the new Account Manager on the public sector team.
What’s your background?
My background is marketing and events, primarily within the retail sector. I worked with the majority of large shopping centres and town centres in the UK and some in Europe to facilitate their fashion events, kids workshops, Christmas light switch ons and music festivals.
If you saw the aerial artist performing whilst being suspended from the main dome at the Trafford Centre – that was proposed, planned and executed by me. Or the Happy Mondays come back gig at the Warrington music festival….me as well!
Why did you want a role in Account Management?
I’m a people person, so I love working directly with customers and clients which was something that really appealed to me about this role. I also wanted to work in an industry that made a difference to people’s lives.
Providing an interpreter to a non-English speaker for a hospital appointment for example, is something that is so important and a fantastic service that we offer
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
At Disneyworld! I can’t wait to take my little boy there but I’m refusing to go until he can go on all the big rides. Within my work life I would hope to have worked my way up through Capita TI, being an integral part of the organisation.
What makes you get out of bed in the morning?
Food! I’m always hungry and am a massive foodie, with breakfast being my favourite meal of the day. If I’m in a rush I’ll have homemade granola, but if I have some time I love pancakes or smoked salmon, avocado and scrambled eggs on rye toast.
What are your hobbies outside of work?
I love music and going to gigs and festivals. My dad is a singer so I’ve been brought up with all types of music, but indie and rock is my absolute fave. I’ve been to over 150 gigs with Pearl Jam being the best.
If you weren’t an Account Manager what would you love to be doing?
I would love to be a dentist. I have a bit of an obsession with teeth, so if you see me staring intently at your mouth during a conversation, please don’t take it personally!
Who inspires you?
Anybody that is nice! Being a nice person gets you far in life, and life is too short to surround yourself with anybody that isn’t nice.
