Cathy

Cathy

Cathy, Vendor Coordinator

What’s your background?

I am a native Mandarin Chinese speaker, with a degree in English.

I’m Chinese Mongolian and moved to the UK in 2008. I started my localisation career as a DTP Coordinator and have worked in different job roles across the public and private sector, from local councils, schools and NHS trusts, whilst bringing up two children. In addition, I am also a freelance court and police Mandarin interpreter.

Why did you want a role in Vendor Management?

I wanted a role in Vendor Management because I have many years’ experience in being an interpreter as well as a translator, so it is great to learn more about the linguist selection and vetting process from the vendor perspective and to be able to build relationships with our linguists

Outside work, I love playing hockey and roller derby, travelling, spending time with my family.

Patryk

Patryk

Patryk, Associate Customer Lead Project Manager

What’s your background?

I’m a native Polish speaker with a BA in Applied Criminal Justice and an MA in Peace Studies. Before starting with Capita, I was a Client Account Manager.

Why did you want a role in Project Management?

I like being able to take the ownership of the job and being a part of Project Management team allows me to do so, whilst also maintaining a good work-life balance. I have always enjoyed working with people from a variety of backgrounds, and the language industry has a very diverse community. Having the opportunity to learn about different cultures is great.

I love travelling, so I do it as much as possible – hopefully, South Africa and Zimbabwe will be my next destination. I would also love to be a part of the United Nations, to help with maintaining peaceful relations and development of weak states.

Zoe

Zoe

Zoe, Customer Project Coordinator

What’s your background?

I’ve always been interested in languages and started learning French at age 10. Throughout my professional career, I’ve worked in education, discussing with pupils why languages are so important in the UK for our careers and economy. During my year abroad in Paris, I worked as a linguist and taught English to IT business professionals. My biggest professional success was during my year abroad when I translated a press release for Renault. To be part of such an exciting project on a topic that was a big deal not only in France but worldwide really gave me a sense of pride.

Why did you want a role in Project Management?

Working as a project manager interested me because I wanted to experience the client relations aspect of the localisation industry. It’s also equally exciting to work in a fast-paced environment with a variety of clients, working across commercial and the public sectors – there is never a dull moment!

I believe languages are not just an asset to a business or a CV, but an opportunity to experience the world and cultures in different ways. Languages are critical to keeping communication between markets – we are all interconnected global citizens.

Tierney

Tierney

Tierney, Customer Project Manager

What’s your background?

I studied translation at university and worked as a Project Manager in the medical sector until 2016. I was eager to get back into the translation industry in a PM role after a few years working in different areas.

I have studied and worked abroad, as well as having a keen interest in languages – all of which brought me to Capita.

Anna

Anna

Anna, Customer Lead Project Manager

What’s your background?

I’m originally from Poland and I’ve been living in the UK for the last 10 years. I have an MA in Translation Studies from University of Portsmouth. Before coming to Capita, I worked as a Project Manager for a Nordic translation agency for about 8 years.

I love languages and working with people from all over the world, so I feel that language industry is a perfect place for me. Polish is my mother tongue, I also speak fluent English, a bit of very rusty German, some basic Russian that I’m currently working on, and a bit of high school French.

Why did you want a role in Project Management?
I applied for a Customer Lead Project Manager position at Capita as I was looking for a new role that would test my existing PM skills, provide an opportunity to expand my skillset and offer more opportunities for career progression.
