Rodrigo Christina has recently joined Capita TI as a Business Development Manager for the Manufacturing and Engineering industry. Let’s get to know Rodrigo a little better, and find out more about his role at Capita.
Why did you join Capita?
I wanted a new challenge while being part of a dynamic and ambitious project that would allow me to grow more within the language industry.
What’s your background?
My background is in Business Administration and Marketing.
What localisation experience do you have?
I’ve been within the industry for 10 years either in pure new business development or account management. I started at a Portuguese LSP, stayed there for 7 years and spent 3 more in a UK based multilingual vendor.
Why did you want to work in the language industry?
Although I’m passionate about languages, I believe it was a coincidence that I ended up working for the language industry. It’s never dull and allows me to be in touch with completely different industries almost on a daily basis. The diversity is what I find interesting within the language industry.
Why did you want a role in Sales?
Sales is my passion, networking and being constantly challenged. I like the 3.
What would you consider to be your biggest professional success?
Managing to increase the revenue of a small LSP by 50% in 3 years.
What do you find particularly challenging in this industry?
The fact that many of the buyers on the client side reduce translation services to a word rate.
What makes you get out of bed in the morning?
Wanting to go to bed in the evening with a clear conscience that did my best and tried hard to repay back the confidence the company has given me.
What are your hobbies outside of work?
Tennis, football and a good book
Do you speak any other languages?
