Only 38% of British people can speak more than one language, making Britain the worst country in Europe in terms of multilingualism. In order to promote languages, we must encourage the early introduction of language study in schools, and pay particular attention to languages that are becoming more economically and politically important, such as Mandarin, Russian, Arabic and Spanish.
In the words of the Austrian Philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein: “The limits of my language mean the limits of my world.”
In order to help students realise the potential and possibilities in language learning, we regularly accept local students into work-experience and internship placements, allowing young people to experience the world of work.
