Learn a bit of lingo before you go
After a long year and with the Christmas break just around the corner, you’re probably starting to think about where you’d like to jet off to next year for your holidays to get away from it all.
It always helps to learn a bit of the local language before you set off so you don’t feel completely lost when you arrive. Travelling is a great motivator for learning more about the language and culture of where you go to next, and you might like your destination so much it might even spark an interest for you to continue learning when you arrive back.
As well as any potential language barrier you might face, have you ever thought about how expensive your room service might be? Which countries you are most likely to find free wi-fi? Or if you’re going to Papua New Guinea, how many different languages there might be?
