Capita TI presents to Master’s students at Aston University

Often, there is a general misconception that studying languages at higher and further education is only achievable for the privileged few and leads to limited career opportunities. Capita Translation and Interpreting (Capita TI) is committed to working in partnership with education providers, giving potential and current students interesting and relevant information regarding the benefits of studying languages and the careers available within the language industry.

On Wednesday 25 February, two members of Capita TI’s Marketing Department were invited by Professor Christina Schaeffner, to present to a group of Master’s Students studying translation at Aston University’s School of Languages and Social Sciences in Birmingham.

The first part of the presentation consisted of an overview of the qualifications and experience required to become an interpreter or translator with Capita TI. It was designed to help the students understand the language industry standards and how they are applied to working across these disciplines.

The second and final part of the presentation was designed to provide a high-level overview of job opportunities available to language graduates in business areas such as Project Management, Account Management, Sales, Vendor Management, Marketing and File Engineering.

Following the presentations, Professor Schaeffner said ‘’ thank you, the feedback I had from the students was very positive’’.

Capita TI has been working with the local community for the past 12 months, and has worked closely with students from Manchester Metropolitan University, Durham University, Lancaster University and Oldham Sixth Form College.
