Capita TI at LocWorld Barcelona

June 2017 saw the 34th LocWorld Conference take place in the brilliantly cosmopolitan Barcelona, Catalonia’s capital and a city known for its food, culture and football club.

Capita TI’s Business Development Manager Rodrigo spent 3 days at the event, mingling with fellow industry professionals, and keeping up-to-date with everything localisation.

This industry is constantly evolving, so there’s always something new to be learnt at these events. Rodrigo tells us about his 5 key take-aways from the conference:

  1. Computer Assisted Technology (CAT) tools continue to play a massive part in translation productivity, and more and more providers are adding adaptive MT to their solution. These engines self-learn from your post-edits so that MT output is unique to your style, content and terminology.
  1. ‘Continuous delivery’ is no longer just a concept – it’s a must for any language service provider. This involved streamlining your processes, automating workflows, integrating systems, improving feedback loops and becoming more efficient in getting new products to new markets.
  1. Measuring ROI on your translation effort is becoming more important than ever, as customers are looking to prove the impact of translation on increasing their sales. Language service providers must have systems in place to report on ROI, and must provide this kind of reporting on a regular basis.
  1. Language service providers need to have a robust and constantly-evolving delivery model in order to provide quality translation services. We believe our ecosystem can do exactly that.
  1. Translating your material is one thing, but what impact does this actually have on your customers? Measuring the user experience on localised content is a difficult task, but is a must in the industry now.

LocWorld always proves to be an invaluable event, and helps us to decide upon future strategies and technology to develop. We’re able to meet up with customers and partners from all over the world, and we already can’t wait for the next one!
